Consultation: Discussion Paper – Intersectoral Global Action Plan on Epilepsy and Other Neurological Disorders

Dear friends and colleagues,

In 2020 the Seventy-third session of the World Health Assembly endorsed resolution WHA 73.10 on Global actions on epilepsy and other neurological disorders, which requested the WHO Director-General to develop an intersectoral global action plan on epilepsy and other neurological disorders in consultation with Member States. The action plan will address the challenges and gaps in providing care and services for people with neurological disorders that exist worldwide and ensure a comprehensive, coordinated response across sectors.

As the first step, the World Health Organization (WHO) Secretariat has developed the discussion paper for the intersectoral global action plan on epilepsy and other neurological disorders covering the period 2022-2031. The discussion paper includes the proposed vision, strategic objectives and a set of recommended actions. Consultations on the discussion paper will inform the development of the Intersectoral global action plan on epilepsy and other neurological disorders for consideration at the Seventy-fifth session of the World Health Assembly.

At the following link, you can read more about this process and access the discussion paper:

We would like to invite Member States, United Nations organizations, WHO Collaborating Centres, nongovernmental organizations, academic institutions, philanthropic foundations, private sector entities and other non-State actors to share their views. Comments can be provided using the online web-consultation form or by email to brainhealth@who.int before 10 April 2021.
