In addition to the announcement of SEAMEO 50×3 Schools’ Network, the SEAMEO Secretariat in collaboration with SEAMEO SEAMOLEC would like to announce the SEAMEO SONG ANGKLUNG CONTEST for the occasion of SEAMEO 50th Anniversary.
The SEAMEO Song Angklung Contest aims to promote the Southeast Asian identity and appreciation of cultural heritage through a common and unique musical instrument in Southeast Asia, called “Angklung”. Playing angklung in a group setting can promote the necessary values and skills of Southeast Asian students such as cooperation, team work, responsibility, creativity, artistic and etc, which will better equip them for the 21st century.
The Contest consists of 2 categories:
1) Traditional Angklung Performance, and
2) Digital Angklung Performance by using mobile phone.
The school entries must include 2 songs:
1) SEAMEO song (Building the Future, the SEAMEO Legacy), and
2) a popular song.
We would like to invite public and private PRIMARY AND SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN 11 SOUTHEAST ASIAN COUNTRIES to submit the entries. The last day for submission of entries is FRIDAY 18 SEPTEMBER 2015.
